The goal and vision of the Alaska Youth Equestrian Club is to not only teach kids about horsemanship but also core values such as hard work, integrity, teamwork, responsibility, perseverance, and friendship.  These are the youth forming our future and we are excited that we have the opportunity to be a part of it!

The ages of members range from 10-18. The kids that are in the performance teams have to EARN their place among this distinguished group of riders through different levels of written and practical testing.

If a new member has previous experience and ability, they can test into Cadence Varsity Drill and Rebel Trick Riders. The testing is made up of pattern work as well as a fast lap with a flag.  Acceptance is also based on the available spots open for new members on the performance teams.

It is not a requirement to own a horse to be on the team. Horses can be leased out to the riders on a regular basis. New riders are matched with one horse that they will consistently lease for each lesson. Of course it is great if a rider does own their own horse.

We ride year around, rain, snow, and shine! We ride once a week, and will switch between a Summer and Winter Schedule. Attendance and commitment to the teams' year-round schedule is essential due to safety concerns and the nature of the sport. Please see our Information package for complete details of attendance requirements.

Cost

Any sport with horses is expensive; however we try to make the teams as affordable as possible. All lesson fees go to the instructor and lease fees are paid to the horse owner.  If you own your own horse, lease fees do not apply. (Please note that all prices are subject to change. All lease agreements vary between horse owners.) These are the approximate weekly fee's charged:
